Financial Support for Young Scientists

Applications for the Young Scientist Award regarding financial support for attending the 2nd International School on Aperiodic Crystals cannot be accepted any more. Rules and procedures can be found here.

Start of school and welcome party:

The School starts with registration and a welcome party on Sunday, 7 April 2013 at the RAMADA Hotel Residenzschloss, Erlanger Str. 37, 95444 Bayreuth.

Registration: 17.30 – 19.30 hrs

Welcome party: 19.30 – 20.30 hrs

End of school:

Friday, 12 April 2013, 18.30 hrs


Participants are cordially invited to submit an abstract (one page A4 paper, 12 point Times font) for a presentation of a poster. Posters will be on display during the entire School. A poster session is part of the program.


The maximum number of participants is 60 including the lecturers.

By bus

The campus can be reached by bus lines no. 304 and 306.

By car

Ample parking space is available on the campus of the University of Bayreuth.

National/ international transport information:

Bayreuth can be reached by airplane, train or car.


By plane

Bayreuth is easily accessible from the following three international airports:


   Frankfurt Airport/ Flughafen Frankfurt


Trains depart from Frankfurt Airport to Bayreuth via Nuremberg at regular intervals. The journey takes about 4 hrs. 


   Nuremberg Airport/ Flughafen Nürnberg

Take the subway from Nuremberg Airport to the main railway station (Hauptbahnhof); from there, trains leave for Bayreuth approximately every hour.


   Franz-Josef-Strauß Airport Munich/ Flughafen München

Take the train from Munich, via Nuremberg to Bayreuth. Change trains in Nuremberg.


By train

Deutsche Bahn AG

Regional express trains from Nuremberg to Bayreuth operate at approximately every hour.


By car

Travelling on the motorway A9 (Berlin-München), take exit "Bayreuth Süd" und follow the signs to the university.
